I implement integrative psychotherapy methods to promote self-understanding and insight among patients, and encourage them to adopt new attitudes by challenging unhelpful or distorted thoughts or behaviors towards life situations. I strive to understand each individual's unique background such as life history, culture, and strengths to address the problems that you bring to our work together. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and the psychologist alike. Making small changes to self-defeating behaviors may include problem-solving what is in your control or learning to cope with what is not in your control; reframing the ways your view problems and finding more adaptive ways to handle what life throws at you makes a big difference and can bring life-altering results.
As a caring professional Psychologist licensed in Arizona, your well-being is my number one priority and I stay up to date by continuously taking courses to offer the latest in best practices and evidence-based therapy to you.
"The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind"

You Ask - I Answer
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
Most sessions are 55 minutes long.
DO YOU GIVE CONSULTATIONS TO SEE IF WE ARE A GOOD FIT?
I recommend you also visit my page on Psychology Today for more information about me and see if you believe we would be a good fit. Once you email me for a appointment, you will receive a pre-screening form where I will see if the reasons that bring you to therapy are issues I work with and if outpatient therapy is the correct level of care. The intake and the first three sessions are usually an evaluation period as well. I do not offer free consultations at this time.
WHAT INSURANCES ARE YOU ACCEPTING?
I am currently now accepting new BCBS clients or out of network/private pay. I am also contracted with Cigna.
HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN INTAKE?
Please send me an email to Drpedroso@therapysecure.com describing what brings you into therapy, what insurance you would like to use (if any) and any relevant information for us to get started.
DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE RATES?
No, I do not.
ARE YOU OFFERING IN-PERSON SERVICES OR TELEHEALTH?
No. Due to COVID, all patients are being seen via telehealth exclusively until further notice. The appointments are being held using a secure platform that is HIPPA-compliant and can be accessed using a smartphone or computer.
Why are there no in-person appointments available despite vaccination available? Given that:
-COVID strains mutate fast and vaccines may not protect all strains that mutate;
- some people are unwilling or unable to be vaccinated;
-the immunity from the different vaccines may wear off at varying times and vary in effectiveness;
-it difficult to read facial expressions of emotion wearing face masks and not prudent to not wear one in a small office space without windows. - telehealth is just as effective as in-person therapy;
- and Dr Pedroso does not want to treat people differently based on their decisions to take the vaccine, or monitor vaccination dates (or expiration of protection) or people’s exposure, telehealth is deemed to be the safest option available for all given the current situation.
